Privacy Policy

Dooney's Barber & Beauty Academy (TDLR Approved Provider #2491, "Dooney's," "we," "us") operates dooneysce.com to deliver TDLR continuing education courses to licensed Texas barbers and cosmetologists. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the platform, how we use it, and the choices available to you. If you have questions, contact us at support@dooneysce.com.

Information We Collect

When you register for an account, we collect your name, email address, phone number, a password (which we store only as a one-way bcrypt hash — we never store or have access to your plaintext password), your Texas license type and license number, and your attestation of whether you have held that license for 15 or more years.

The license number you provide is cross-referenced against the public TDLR licensee records published on the Texas Open Data Portal (data.texas.gov) so we can verify your license and auto-fill your name from the state record. If the name on your account doesn't match the state record, we ask you to confirm or attest to the discrepancy before completing registration.

As you use a course, we record your progress — sections viewed, seat time, and quiz results — so we can resume you where you left off and issue your TDLR completion certificate.

Payments

Course payments are processed by Stripe. We do not collect, transmit, or store your card number or other payment card details on our servers — that information is handled entirely by Stripe. We retain a record of the transaction (amount, course purchased, and Stripe's session identifier) for receipts, support, and accounting.

Email & SMS Communications

We send transactional email — account confirmations, payment receipts, certificate delivery, and password resets — as a necessary part of the service you purchased. With your consent, we also send marketing email (such as CE renewal reminders and new course announcements) with an unsubscribe link in every message.

We only send marketing text messages if you affirmatively check the SMS consent box at registration. Consent is not a condition of purchase. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any marketing text. Full details on our communications and SMS consent practices are in our Terms & Conditions.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies required to operate the platform: an authentication session cookie that keeps you signed in, and a language-preference cookie that remembers whether you prefer English or Spanish. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. Cloudflare Turnstile runs on our login and registration forms to distinguish real users from automated bots; it does not track you across other sites.

How We Share Information

TDLR reporting. Texas law requires approved CE providers to report your course completion to TDLR — including your license number, the course number, and your completion date. We submit this information to TDLR as part of our regulatory obligation; we do not have discretion to withhold it.

Service providers. We share data with vendors who process it on our behalf to operate the platform: Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (bot protection and infrastructure), and our email delivery providers. These vendors are only permitted to use your data to provide services to us.

No sale of personal data. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Data Retention

TDLR requires approved CE providers to retain student completion and enrollment records for a minimum of two years, and we keep your account and course-completion records for at least that long to meet our provider audit obligations. Your certificates remain available from your dashboard for as long as your account exists.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing support@dooneysce.com. Because we are a TDLR-approved CE provider, deletion requests may be limited where we are required to retain completion and enrollment records under Texas recordkeeping rules.
